My music selection at the moment is pretty mellow. Currently playing is Tegan and Sara’s “Beauty” from their Yellow Demo.
Before that — and that’s what prompted me to write this — was another new (to me anyways) String Quartet release: “History Repeats — A String Quartet Tribute to Bad Religion” [DL]. In general I like the String Quartet series and along with the Rockabye Baby releases it’s a nice fall-asleep-to and wind-down-from-stressful-days change in my musical world of guitars and drums.
While some of the String Quartet releases seem to be a bit mass produced and not very in-depth, this Bad Religion tribute is really a release I can recommend. “Infected” is a mucho bello classical tune and already one of my all time favorite guitar-gone-violin tracks.
For the past days, there have only been 3 things ruling my existance:
Music
MTB
Work
In that order.
Ad Music:
Matt Costa, Nikola Sarcevic, Colin Hay, Maritime, We are scientists and others have been on constant rotation… see a pattern? Sorta strange for a not-so-young-anymore hardcore-kid. What’s really ruling my audio-world at the office at the moment though is CSS.
Shake whatever body parts you have available. Vocals remind me a lot of The Sounds… and while we’re at it: the tunes too at times… also check out the pre-release of their upcoming album “Rat is Dead”. Free for Download on the band’s website. The fresh alternative rock reminds me of some time back.
Ad Mountainbiking:
Feels good to hit the tracks again. Rode 3 different bikes in 3 days. That was a bit of a different experience as well. I feel better body wise now.
Ad Work:
C’mon… it’s work. Not much to say. Much overtime and bug fixing. The 90° heat in our poorly ventilated office doesn’t really proove very helpful with the output ratio.
I’m in a very acoustic mood today… so I would like to share a couple of songs that are helping me through the heat and sunshine in the office right now. Both albums are really recommended as well…
Today I’ve been messing around with some new media tools and applications. Well… first, I got some new music:
Austria Pop Show - Volume Ans bis Via
Melee - Devils And Angels
Angela McCluskey - The Things We Do
Daughtry - Self Titled
Northern Lite - Super Black
Fettes Brot - Strom und Drang
Adele - 19
Haven’t really had a chance to get through that stuff yet, but hey — still get to hit the bike today and listen to some of it then.
Furthermore, I got to check out Photoshop Express. Also, another handy Web 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever tool. They are still dealing with some TOS issues, but I guess they will resolve that by April 10th. The news release says so at least.
And last, but not least, I also finally got around to checking out Miro. It’s hard to really explain what this little multi-genius does exactly, but it’s a real talent in everything concerning videos and the web. It will play all your local media, download from video portals, rss feeds, streams, channels and even can act as a bittorrent client. Not too shabby…
