Yesterday I made my way to Linz, to the Mission Future event of 2008. All in all it was alright, but had I paid the 892 EUR for a regular ticket, I would have been pissed. Continue reading ‘Ars Electronica: Mission Future’

It’s starting to become a little overwhelming what has been coming in in job related requests in the past 2-3 weeks. And that’s despite the fact that I have not been sending out any applications or updated any job profiles online in about 3 months. A little summary:
- I received 8 requests for job interviews (or CV details):
- 1 in Mondsee/Austria (Web Application Development)
- 4 in or around Linz/Austria (Software Development, 2x Web Application Development, Consulting)
- 1 in Munich/Germany (Web Application Development)
- 1 in Zürich/Switzerland (Web Application Development)
- 1 in Minneapolis/USA (General IT)
- I went to one interview, which lead to a definite job offer in Linz/Austria (in the perfect position nonetheless)
- I received one request to take over a Webmaster position
- And I should pick up and revise parts of a project I finished for a client 2 years ago
Considering the joke that’s going on at my current job, I wonder how long the start-up bonus will keep me at that place.
On another note: Shaolin Soccer is on TV. It’s a lot funnier in English than German.
I think it’s a little funny, that my own blog is the first hit, when you search for “Kronomy” on Google. Considering that SEO is an issue the company spends money on. Granted — it’s still in “closed beta”, but still… I never once even mentioned the site’s name here before… well — except now. It was hidden in the tags so far.
The reasons for the slowly trickling updates were 2 mainly:
- the mentioned Wordpress upgrade hiccups: Partly fixes with the Flexible Upload plugin
- having caught a viral infection, that kept me more or less out of order for almost three weeks now
At least mostly this stuff has been resolved now.
Today I actually got to work out for the first time in weeks again. While that really took all energy out of me and I almost fell asleep on the work out bench, it really made me feel a little better. In the evening then, we had band practice again. Since I am not that sick anymore, this was really the first one I could enjoy now. We have 4 songs mostly done; not too shabby actually, considering the total practice time so far. Today it took us an hour to get the gear set up, since the drunk Krauts (Krautschädl) Mölgie and Plescha were having too much fun cleaning up. They played shows this weekend and as it seems they have been drinking a little too much for a few days straight now. They are dorks already when they’re sober — give them beer, and it’s like watching an episode of Laurel and Hardy.
Other than that, it’s all about clean cuts in every aspect. Getting a clear vision and maybe even getting to know myself. What do I need to be happy? Good question. Objectively looking, a spectator is likely to ask me, why I’m not happy as it is. Still, the current situation is nothing that’s satisfying.
This upcoming week will be rather busy. Not sure if that’ll be at all supporting my objective. Still wondering if i should go see Shellac and Austrofred this week… both are acts I have been wanting to see live for ages now. Next weekend is even crazier… I’m supposed to shoot the Judgement Night Festival Saturday and Sunday, but at the same time at the Linzfest there are a bunch of acts I would like to see too…
Great, now “Doc Hollywood” is just coming on on TV… can I actually ditch MJF and go to bed? I should.
So long. nite nite.

Today I experienced of the silliest scenes in a while: Talking to a 85+ year old nun, while on my headphones Marvin Gaye was singing “Sexual Healing”. That was a bit mind boggling.
Other than that: The ÖBB managed to take 3.5 hrs from Vienna to Linz. Therefore I met a very nice couple from Bangalore on the train and had a 2 hour chat with them. Super nice, super open and very interested in everything. Afterwards — due to the delay — my schedule got a bit jumbled. Had 3 appointments and stopped at the Netural parking lot for the first time in a while. I’ve also learned some things about job interviews lately. Today I was in a weird mood for that and actually called the shots a bit, which was funny, as some of the employers seemed surprised.
In the news department, I surprisingly stumbled upon articles reporting “Kill all Emos”-tendencies in Mexico… WTF is that all about now? A mob get’s pissed by whiny, sad looking teens and tries to smash their heads in? Morons.
And finally, the song that made my day…
