My own private Emocide

Although I hope it’s just due to the winter
that lately I am freezing so much
and my fingers are cold and stiff,
nothing can build me up and nothing makes me happy anymore.
The cold makes talking hard
and I feel emotions freeze slowly inside of me.
I am afraid that when spring comes around
it will stay winter inside of me.

Can’t find any words for warmth anymore.
Ice flowers bloom, which won’t melt anymore.
Snowflakes run through my veins
like in an old winter dream.
I walk over to the oven and hope
that it will chase away my fear.
The fear, that when spring comes around
it will stay winter inside of me.

Frozen look, everything’s foggy
No clear vision, I see no path ahead of me.
I’m stuck in snow and can’t walk another step.
Nobody reaches out to pull me out of there.
I feel like all my wishes,
are blown out into the sea by a cold wind
which returns with a winter,
which will stay inside of me still after spring.

Ice screams in pain, a world is melting.
The first flowers, soft and warm,
stretch and blink towards the sky.
The sun embraces them gently.
Lost souls sneak over meadows
and let themselves flow in the warm spring wind.
I’m standing here wrapped into a coat
and a winter inside of me, which won’t end anymore.
