first thing after getting up, i returned the 2nd pair of headphones in 2 days. then we tried to take care of the bank stuff today - but “megan” was out for lunch. so alright - i figured, i might as well do my chores at university in the mean time. but about 200 feet from the house a mini collie jumped in front of my car. twice actually. once again a dog with no collar. goddammit. people are too retarded to take care of dogs. this is #7 here in less than a year that we have to get off the street. so alright. the dog is kinda shy - so he will come to me up to 2 feet, but then he takes off every time. eventually a little kid on a bicycle comes by and tells me he thinks the dog is sky, from down the road. so we try to get him to go there, and sure enough, the gate to the yard is open. the frontdoor was open, and only the screen door closed - great - so i’d just go tell the owner. i wish. noone was there. i could’ve just walked in to the living room and do whatever in that house. i talked to the neighbor then for 10 minutes. her dog was playing chase with sky, but he wouldn’t come close enough to either of us.
eventually i gave up and went back home, to go to the bank again with meg. after that - and a huge long boring explanation of the bank chicks country wedding we went back - the dog was gone. i had picked up dog treats and a leash though, when i haad gone home earlier. so - about 2 blocks away, meg spotted the pup again. i pulled over and we both went out to get to the dog. he wouldnt come close enough again. so we thought, if he wont come closer, we just should try to lure him back to his yard. so i re-parked the car and startd to lay out a trail of treats down the street and through the ravene. worked almost perfectly! after about 30 minutes we were by the yard. but the dog just wouldn’t want to get back in the yard. so when i spotted the other neighbor, he brought his dog and eventually lured sky into the yard. gate shut and voila. he had been out now, roaming the streets, for at least 2,5 hours. a minute later an old lady pulls in to the drive way. i explained what happened and she thanked us.
alright - dropped off gan then and took off to campus. there i checked the store, visited mark bannister and gary hoffman. i couldn’t find angela or kevin, but stopped in to carols office for a while. at 4:30 i wanted to get ready to leave, but it started pouring like nuts. actually this was for the 2nd time today. i already was woken up this morning by thunder - looking out, the street was flooded a few inches. tststs. so anyways - i thought i;d wait it out and stayed longer. thereain finally got a bit lighter at 5:30 - so i took off. still getting drenched, but i made it in the car.
leaving campus i started wondering, why there was SO much traffic - somewhere on an intersection on 17th i finally found out why: what looked like a big puddle actually was a fucking pond. i was stuck in 2 feet deep water, the waves going over the windshield… the street just was getting shut off by the fire dept on the OTHER side. thanks much. luckily i did make it through - then it took me another 15 minutes to find my way home, since it was like a maze to find unflooded streets - thus the traffic increase.
back hme i was surprised by the small amount of water around - until meg showed me the photos she took: the avine actually just had overflown half an hour earlier, and the water was up to our front porch. by the time i came back it al had receeded again - just the yard was still mighty deep under water. i am sure half the city got wet feet in their houses again…
so that’s for the weather. other than that:
i watched a behind the music last night - on guns’n'roses. damn - how long has that been? i havent listened to those records in forever and a day. so - note to self: dig out those old g’n'r cds. they still rock.
also i watched the season premiere of mythbusters - which was about time - and shark week - which frankly sucks this year.
and finally - before i forget: i may have found my d70 kit lens today finally. someone selling a d70 kit online is willing to get me the 28-70mm nikkor for 200 bucks. yay! that’s exactly what i was looking for. only downside: so far he has been slow replyng and wants me to send the money to his po box. big nono.
didn’t give a shit. what a surprise.
argh. i cant believe that sunflower bank charger fucking 90 bucks in penalties, just because 24 dollars went through in the wrong order. this is pure ripoff. don’t ever get an account with them! they call this feature “customer protection” - i call it “customer exploitation”.
yesterday i went over to justins place. he gave me the copy of cod which he had promised me a few months ago. yay to that. his appartment is really neat and cheap. all brick, 2 floors - kinda looks like a flat - and only 500 bucks, all bills paid. he’ll be coming over tomorrow to pick up some eddie izzard and dane cook files. speaking of stand up: oswald patton was on the conan rerun last night - that sucker is so funny. i have to catch him live sometime.
packing actually went quite alright. not all too exciting, but we got about half the house boxed up. digging through the storage and getting all that stuff in the truck is gonna be quite a drag - but oh well.
bug is getting really good with the frisbee - it also seems to be becoming his new facorite toy. which - of course - probably is due to the fact, that he gets the most treats whenever we start training with it. he also did rather well running yesterday. it was so nice outside - mighty cool. so we actually did beat the record by a few seconds. that by calves were quite sore afterwards during the walk was worth it.
well… i better get dressed to go and talk to the bank people.
yay. who would’ve thought that the last days in ks would be so nice - weather wise at least. we’re in the 60s and 70s here and i like it. thunderstorms haven’t been around too much either so yay to that as well…
therefor i am spending my last days here with some less than exciting activities. i finally got my ass in gear today to rename and burn off the 10 gigs of mp3s that had piled up on janine over the past months. that pretty much took up most of the day - other than that i mainly chilled.
once again we went to taco bell yesterday - and once again they messed up my order. haha. my last 3 visits caused them 8(!) burritos that had to be thrown out. “no cheese, no sour cream” really pushes these kansas minds to the edge of burnout. i honestly wonder why i still have to mention my special orders. to my knowledge i am the only vegan here within about 100 miles - and i always go to the same taco bell, ordering the same stuff - from usually the 2 same chicks. but like i said - the minds work different (on a lower clock rate i suppose) than in the rest of the country.
i’m actually thinking about setting up a little movie review section. how about that? i really like how eric and the rest of the ufb gang set up theirs… we’ll see…
tomorrow and the rest of the week will be spent with the exciting task of packing and cleaning. so i better head off and get some rest. bugster - who unfortunately gets way too little play time lately - is already sleeping here next to me. cute little fella.
nite nite.
ps: once again on history channel eddie izzard’s words are so fitting… “nazis marching”
here we go again… finally another update. not all that much happened in the past few weeks. i mainly was working on websites (as emolife for example). i also rewrote the sXe article there which i had written 4 years ago. it really needed this badly. i still am not 100% happy with it - but oh well.
evil and the midwesterners ditched us - grrrr - they are touring the east coast right now and didnt make the 20 minute effort to stop by here. that was kinda depressing. i really wanted to see some known faces again. oh well - i’ll whoop their butts back up in the twin cities - do you hear me mike, kyle, evil? and tom as well actually. dude! get in touch!
i miss playing live. i have to get back with some cool people to rock the stages of this world. it’s been over 2 years since my last show. and that after 5 years of continuous shows. so - note to self: get the motivation and drumming skills back up to the old level!
i tried to keep up with my running a little. did 7 miles a few days ago - in 105 degrees… talk about out of breath. bugster didnt get as much excercise as he needs lately - so we should work on that soon. we also finally got our asses in gear and started packing. finally out of this hell hole back to civilization. one more week. yay!
[snip]they’re just talking about schwazenegger on mtv. tststs… that;s what austria has to offer in terms of representation in the states. sad sad sad.[/snip]
studies are going alright. i’m turning into a geek here. finished linux admin 2, advanced ps, and dreamweaver - which was more like a joke. tool me less than an hour to complete the whole class including pre and post assessment. so - some more things to add to my resume.
oh yeah - and finally another one for the bitching department: ebay blows.
so that’s it for now. i’m always happy about mails from nice people, so feed my mail box to decrease my spam quota. ill change the whole posting format here a bot to get the syndic8ion worked out nicely.
rock on everyone.
so - starting now, lj and emolife.net will work in a syndicated way, and allow me to post in either of the 2, and still showing the posts in both systems. yay.
sid
…ok - once i get the info site set up this page will be finished. yay!
just finished the new photography part of this site. it shall eventually hold a lot of my photo work. looking forward to filling it up.
despite the livejournal, i will use this to keep a little log. the two should be mutually syndicated and synchronized if everything works as it should.
rock on.
